UPDATE from Friday, Oct. 2:

The Iowa River Trail has undergone repairs this week between Napoleon Lane and Hills Bank. The trail will reopen for use by 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3, although some sections will not be accessible due to the need for more extensive repairs. Users should bypass areas that are cordoned off or that have barricades and safety cones set up. Repairs will be completed next week.

Repairs to the Iowa River Trail that were scheduled to begin tomorrow will actually start today (Thursday, Oct. 1) by the City of Iowa City’s Streets and Parks Divisions. Staff will be taking advantage of good weather to get the repairs underway so that the project can be completed by the end of the work week.

Trail sections that run from Napoleon Lane, where the City’s Streets and Parks offices are located, north to the area near Hills Bank, at the intersection of Highway 6 and Gilbert Street, will be partially closed today, with only one side of the trail open. They will be completely closed on Friday. The trail will be reopened by 7:30 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 3.
