Iowa City Update is a weekly video program designed to keep you informed on projects and programs being brought to you by the City of Iowa City. Each week you can learn about the exciting events and important topics taking place in our great city. Here is what you can expect to learn in this week's episode:

The City of Iowa City is launching an effort to restore two historic cabins located in City Park. The cabins were built in 1889 and 1913, and both are on the historic registry. The cabins have been used for historic and recreation programming in the past, but have since fallen into disrepair. Much of the wood has rotted out and both roofs are in poor condition. Contractor bids to repair the cabins are due on February 2nd, and will likely go before City Council on February 7th.
The City wants your input on how to make Iowa City a more bicycle-friendly community! The Iowa City Bicycle Master Plan helps guide city staff and council for future projects that make biking safer, easier and more convenient. A crucial part of of creating the Master Plan is to gather feedback from the community. There will be an open house at the Senior Center on Thursday, January 26th from 6 to 7:30 p.m. If you can’t make it to the open house you may also provide feedback and complete a survey online.
The City offers a program that can benefit small businesses in Iowa City. The Microloan Program aims to provide low to moderate income persons with access to affordable loans to start or expand a business. Online applications can be found on the City’s financial assistance page. Learn how N.C.G.A. Training Grounds was able to get loan to purchase equipment for its new video gaming store.
