The Iowa City Public Library will be closed Friday, Dec. 11, for Staff Inservice Day.

“The annual Inservice Day is an opportunity for all Library staff to attend training designed to improve services for patrons,” Community and Access Services Coordinator Kara Logsden said.

The day begins with staff recognition during which seven Library employees will be recognized for service to ICPL. This year, the Library will recognize individuals who have worked at the Library for five, 10, 20, and 25 years.

This year’s Inservice Day features three guest speakers. Karin Franklin, the former director of planning for the City of Iowa City, who will lead employees in a strategic brainstorming session for FY18. Erin Altheide of Johnson County Juvenile Courts Services will give a presentation on the juvenile courts mediation process, while Peggy Loveless of the National Alliance of Mental Illness will lead a seminar on mental health.

Regular Library hours will resume at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 12.
