Two new Iowa City Police officers were sworn in during a ceremony Monday, Dec. 6, 2021 in Emma Harvat Hall. 

Officer Halley Brus is from Iowa City. Officer Brus has degrees in communications and French from Chatham University. Officer Brus was previously employed by the Renton, Wash. Police Department. 

Officer Jeff Briones is from Moline, Ill. Officer Briones attended Carthage College, the University of Indianapolis, Black Hawk College and Southern Illinois University - Edwardsville. 

Officer Brus will immediately enter into the department's field training program as she prepares for her Iowa Peace Officer certification - a requirement of peace officers certified in other states. Officer Briones will attend the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy in January 2022. Upon graduation, he will enter into the department's field training program.
