On May 15, 2016, at approximately 2:29 a.m., the Iowa City Police Department responded to the 10 block of S. Dubuque Street for a report of a fight in progress. Upon arrival, Officers located a petite female victim bleeding profusely from her nose and mouth. According to the victim and witness, a white male approached her while she was sitting down and began making advances toward her trying to offer her a ride and to take her home with him. When the victim turned down these offers, the suspect spit in the female’s face. The female yelled at the suspect and he again spit in her face. A verbal altercation between the two continued into the alley and the male then struck the female, knocking her to the ground. The female was transported by ambulance to the University of Iowa Emergency Trauma Center for treatment of her injuries.

The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 5’8” to 6’0” tall, shoulder length brown hair, medium build, and wearing a black sweatshirt or jacket. He was last seen running eastbound through the alley.

This incident remains under investigation and the Iowa City Police Department is requesting the assistance of the public who might have been witness to this assault. The Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect(s).
