UPDATE - The Iowa City Police Department has released a photograph of the vehicle the suspect was believed to have driven to and from the site of the robbery.

On November 1, 2016 at 10:17 a.m., the Johnson County Emergency Communications Center (JECC) received a 911 call reporting a robbery had just occurred at McDonalds restaurant located at 2440 Mormon Trek Blvd, Iowa City. Upon arrival by the Iowa City Police Department (ICPD), it was reported that a male subject entered the business, approached the cashier and made a demand for money. The suspect then fled the business with an undisclosed amount of currency northbound on foot.  No weapons were displayed during this incident and no injuries were reported.

The suspect is described as a balding white male, mid-to-late 40s, wearing a brown coat, sunglasses, blue jeans, and black t-shirt.

This matter remains under investigation by the ICPD Investigations Division.  The police are requesting the public’s assistance in locating the identity of the suspect or the suspect’s associates.  Additionally, Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering a reward of up to $1,000 for information leading to the arrest of the suspect or suspects in these matters. Individuals providing information do not have to reveal their identity to collect a reward.
