On Tuesday, Sept. 26, 2017, at 12:34 a.m., the Iowa City Police Department (ICPD) was dispatched to the area of Center Street and Davenport Street to a report of a male who said he had just been robbed by people he knows.
According to the victim, he was struck by one of the suspects with a pistol, and said that a single gunshot was fired. The victim did report sustaining minor injuries from being struck with the pistol. The suspects then reportedly fled the area in a white vehicle.
As the investigation continued, information was developed that the suspects in this matter were reportedly at a residence at 60 David Lee Court, North Liberty. Officers from the ICPD and the North Liberty Police Department (NLPD) made contact with the residents, and two juvenile suspects were taken into custody for robbery in the first degree. The juveniles were then transported to the Linn County Detention Center without incident.
The robbery investigation is ongoing and being conducted by the Iowa City and North Liberty Police Departments.
As with any criminal case, a charge is merely an accusation and the defendant is presumed innocent until and unless proven guilty.
