On December 14th, 2015 at 1048 A.M., the Iowa City Police Department responded to the Kum and Go convenience store located at 513 South Riverside Drive to a report of a fight in progress.  Upon arrival at the scene, the responding officers determined that this incident was actually a failed robbery attempt.

According to the victim, he was approached by subject outside of the business whereupon the subject grabbed the bank bag the victim was carrying.   At this point, a struggle ensued and the victim was able to retain custody of the bank bag.  The suspect then fled the area on foot in unknown direction of travel.  The suspect is described as a black male, approximately, 6 feet tall weighing around 200 pounds.  The suspect was further described as wearing a black hoody and blue jeans.  The Johnson County Ambulance service responded to treat and release the victim for superficial injuries.  In addition, the University Heights Police Department, the University of Iowa Police Department, and the Iowa State Patrol assisted in attempting to locate the suspect.    This matter remains under investigation by the Iowa City Police Department.
