On Sunday, April 4, 2021, at 2:04 a.m., Iowa City Police responded to a report of shots fired in the 100 Block of S. Clinton Street. Upon arrival, officers located a shell casing, as well as several witnesses to the incident. According to witnesses, a man was reported to have discharged a handgun after a large fight broke out in the alley near this location. The man fled the scene in a vehicle prior to police arrival.

The suspect was described by witnesses as a dark-skinned adult male wearing red shorts and a gray tank top.

This incident is being actively investigated by the Iowa City Police Department and we are asking the public for assistance. Anyone with information is asked to contact ICPD at 319-356-5275. In addition, anyone in that area with security cameras is asked to review their recordings and contact the ICPD with any potential footage or information about this incident.
