Iowa City Police officers are investigating after a man was allegedly assaulted with a bottle.
On September 2, 2016 at approximately 11:32 p.m., officers responded to the intersection of Washington and Linn Streets for a report of a male victim who had just been assaulted. Upon meeting with the victim and witnesses, it was reported that the victim was approached from behind by a male suspect who subsequently struck the victim in the head with a bottle.
The suspect then fled the area, along with the group of individuals. The suspect is described as a white male, approximately 6 feet 1 inch in height, with shoulder length brown hair, and a muscular build. He was with four to five additional subjects.
The victim was transported by the Johnson County Ambulance to the University of Iowa Hospitals Emergency Department. He received treatment for non-life threatening injuries and was released.
This matter remains under investigation by the ICPD.
The department is requesting the public’s assistance in locating the identity of the suspect or the suspect’s associates.
