Sgt. Jeff Fink and Police Chief Sam Hargadine
After a 35-year career with the Iowa City Police Department (ICPD), Sergeant Brian Krei retired March 1, 2016. 

Sergeant Krei has been with the ICPD since August 1982 and was promoted to the position of sergeant in July 1999. As a sergeant, he served in the Patrol Division and in the Records Division as the Public Information Officer. He takes with him a vast knowledge of the ICPD and its operations and will be deeply missed by all who had the honor of working with him. 

Officer Jeff Fink was promoted to Sergeant to replace Krei on Tuesday, March 1 at a ceremony in Emma J. Harvat Hall. Fink was hired as an officer in September 1999. He is currently serving as a patrol officer on the Evening Watch as well as serving as a member of the Crisis Negotiation Team and a Field Training Officer. Fink has held assignments in the Patrol Division and Investigations. He has a Bachelor of Science and a Master’s in law enforcement and justice administration from Western Illinois University. He also has a master’s degree in Spanish linguistics from the University of Iowa. Fink was the recipient of the Richard W. “Dick” Lee Award in 2007. Sergeant Fink has been assigned to the Late Night Watch.
