Officer Jesse Drahos hired Aug. 26, 2016
Iowa City Police Department Interim Chief Troy Kelsay swore in Jesse Drahos as a Police Officer during a ceremony at Emma J. Harvat Hall on Friday August 26, 2016. 

Officer Drahos, 32, originally from Belle Plaine, is a 2010 graduate of Kirkwood Community College with an Associate Degree in Fire Science and a 2015 graduate from the University of Iowa with a Bachelor of Arts degree in History. He has been in the United States Marine Corps for 14 years with four years of active duty, 10 years as a reserve and currently serves in the reserve as a Staff Sergeant.  Prior to employment with the Iowa City Police Department, Officer Drahos worked for Genco in North Liberty.  

Officer Drahos will start the Iowa Law Enforcement Academy on August 29, with a pending graduation date of December 16, 2016.  Prior to a permanent assignment, he will participate in the Iowa City Police Department’s field training program. He has been assigned badge #27.
