The Iowa City Police Department is asking for the public's help as officers investigate a burglary. 

On Thursday, Oct. 13 at about 10 p.m., police responded to a home in the 700 block of East Fairchild St. for a report of a burglary in progress. The victim told officers he located a male inside his garage and said the suspect hit him over the head with a hard object, causing minor injuries. The suspect then fled into the south alley and the victim lost sight of him. 

The suspect was described as male, average height and build, possibly wearing dark clothing and a red cap.  In addition, the suspect possibly has white or cream-colored paint splattered on his clothing. Police are continuing to investigate the incident and are asking those living in the neighborhood to contact police if they see anything out of the ordinary. 

Iowa City Area CrimeStoppers is offering up to a $1,000 cash reward for information leading to the arrest of this suspect(s).
