On Thursday, Aug. 13, the Iowa City Police Department swore in Daniel Falco and Kristie Davis as police officers during a ceremony at Emma J. Harvat Hall.

Officer Falco, 39, graduated from the University of Iowa in 2000. In addition, Officer Falco has an M.F.A. in Art from Northern Illinois University and an M.A. in Education from Saint Xavier University. Prior to employment with the Iowa City Police Department, Officer Falco worked as a teacher in Chicago, Ill. and Gary Ind.

Officer Davis, 37, graduated from the University of Iowa in 2000. Prior to joining the Iowa City Police Department, Officer Davis worked as a firefighter and EMT-B for the Harvard, Ill. Fire Protection District.

Both officers were hired to fill vacancies created by personnel turnovers within the police department.

Officer Falco and Officer Davis started the Cedar Rapids Law Enforcement Academy on Monday, Aug. 17, pending graduation on Dec. 18. Prior to a permanent assignment, both officers will participate in the Iowa City Police Department's field training program. Officer Falco has been assigned badge #28 and Officer Davis has been assigned badge #58.
