The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department plans to reopen pools this summer in a phased approach.
Mercer Pool is currently open to the public for reserved lap swim, water walking, and open swim. Both residents of Iowa City and non-residents can make reservations, which cost $4 per person, per time block. Time blocks of 45-minute are available from 6 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Friday, and 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturdays and Sundays for adults 16-years or older. Reservations are required; no drop-ins are allowed.
Mercer Park Aquatic Center will also begin offering session-based water fitness classes. Registration for enrollment will begin in mid-April. Registration is required, no drop-ins are allowed. Classes will be taught with individuals spaced 6 feet apart.
Annual passes previously deactivated will be reactivated on Monday, May 3, 2021. Passes will be accepted at Mercer Pool and City Park Pool, which is slated to reopen this summer.
Summer swimming with lessons will be offered at Mercer Pool and City Park Pool. Registration for summer lessons and programs will begin Thursday, April 29, 2021.

COVID guidelines at the pools
No one will be admitted without a reservation. Visitors will be asked to follow the general COVID-19 safety practices and guidelines. Those include maintaining 6 feet of distance from one another, wearing a mask when not actively in the water, refraining from gathering, and exiting the facility promptly at the end of the reservation.
