Beginning the week of July 25, 2022, the City of Iowa City will revert all 10-minute "pick-up/drop-off" spaces in the Downtown area back to metered parking spaces.

The temporary 10-minute parking spaces were established during the COVID-19 pandemic to provide additional support to Downtown businesses and delivery services. Parking will continue to be available at more than 1,200 on-street, metered parking spaces Downtown and near Downtown.

At 6:50 p.m. Sunday, July 10, 2022, Iowa City Police responded to Gilbert Street south of Southgate Avenue for a personal injury crash. Responding officers located a man in the street near a crashed motorcycle. The man was transported to a local hospital to be treated for life-threatening injuries.

Police are asking that any witnesses to the crash contact the police department at 319-356-5275.

A new agenda has been posted for the upcoming meetings of the Parks and Recreation Commission, Wednesday, July 13, 2022. The first meeting will begin at 5 p.m. in the Proctor & Gamble Room at the Mercer Park Aquatic Center. The second meeting will begin at 6 p.m. in the downstairs lobby of the Robert A.
