Crews have completed underground rock splitting work for this phase of the Iowa City Gateway Project and will no longer need to temporarily close Dubuque Street twice, daily for rock splitting.

Workers had been closing the road for a few minutes at 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m. Monday – Friday, but were able to end early. A notice will be issued should the work need to continue.

Underground rock was split to allow for the installation of deep sanitary trunk sewer under the northbound lanes of Dubuque Street. The work is being done as part of the Iowa City Gateway, a project that will elevate Dubuque Street while also raising and replacing the Park Road Bridge.
