Dubuque Street will not temporarily close twice daily for underground rock splitting work this week, Mon. Aug. 15 - Fri. Aug. 19.

Crews had anticipated the need to close at approximately 11 a.m. and 6:30 p.m., Monday - Friday through at least Aug. 23, but will not do so this week.

Underground rock is being split to allow for the installation of deep sanitary trunk sewer under the northbound lanes of Dubuque Street. The work is being done as part of the Iowa City Gateway Project, a flood mitigation effort to raise Dubuque Street while elevating and replacing the Park Road Bridge.

The Gateway Project timeline is fluid and subject to change. Updates will be communicated as they become available.
