Iowa City Firefighters responded to a house fire on Wednesday, June 7, 2017. 

Fire crews were dispatched at 2:46 a.m. to 120 South Summit where they found light smoke coming from the roof of the home.  All occupants had evacuated prior to fire department arrival. Firefighters located smoldering material in the front attic/soffit area above the front door. Firefighters were able to gain access from the exterior and extinguished the fire within 20 minutes of responding.  

The home sustained approximately $5,000 in damage. The cause remains under investigation.

The Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service and MidAmerican Energy assisted on scene.
