The Iowa City Fire Department is investigating a fire that occurred in an apartment at 427 North Dubuque Street.
Firefighters responded at 7:35 a.m. on Saturday, November 11, 2017, to a report of an oven fire with smoke filling the apartment.
The arriving crew found a working fire in an apartment on the fourth floor. Sixteen firefighters extinguished the fire in approximately 20 minutes. The building sprinkler system contained the fire to the room of origin. Damage to the apartment and contents is estimated at $20,000. No injuries were reported.
The Iowa City Fire Department was assisted by the Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance Service, Johnson County Emergency Communications Center, and the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety. The cause of the fire remains under investigation.
