The Iowa City Fire Department worked to put out a fire Monday evening. 

Crews responded to a building fire Monday, June 6, 2016 at 5:49 p.m. at 1412 Dickenson Lane, Iowa City. Crews arrived to a fire that was spreading from a storage shed to a multi-level home. Crews quickly attacked the outside fire and then made an aggressive interior attack, finding a large fire in the attic. Firefighters brought the fire under control  in about a half-hour. 

Sixteen firefighters responded to the initial alarm along with several off-duty personal.  The Coralville Fire Department, Hills Fire Department, Lone Tree Fire Department, Riverside Fire Department, Solon Fire Department, Swisher Fire Department, Tiffin Fire Department, West Branch Fire Department, Iowa City Police Department, Johnson County Ambulance, American Red Cross, and Mid-American Energy all provided support and assistance. 

The people inside made it out safely and were not hurt. However, the building sustained significant fire damage along with moderate smoke and water damage. A loss estimate is not yet available. Fire officials are still investigating what caused the fire.
