The City of Iowa City has hired a new Assistant City Manager, Ashley Monroe, to fill the role left vacant by the promotion of Geoff Fruin to City Manager in July 2016. Monroe will begin her employment with Iowa City on Thursday, Dec. 1.
Monroe has been employed by the Village of Hoffman Estates, IL since 2007, working in several capacities including as an Assistant Planner, Management Analyst, and most recently as the Assistant to the Village Manager. She has a broad range of municipal experience covering city administration, communications, finance, land use planning and sustainability initiatives. Hoffman Estates is located in the Chicago metropolitan region and serves a population of approximately 52,000.
Monroe holds a master’s degree in Public Administration, Urban Management and a bachelor’s degree in Political Science, Public Administration from Northern Illinois University in DeKalb, Illinois.
