The Iowa City Animal Care and Adoption Center, operated by Animal Services, a division of the Iowa City Police Department was recognized as one of the Coolest Places to Work in the Cedar Rapids/Iowa City Corridor at an awards banquet held on Tuesday, June 16, 2015. The Animal Center was one of 24 finalists recognized at the awards breakfast at the Double Tree by Hilton Convention Center in Cedar Rapids. The Animal Center was ranked number six in the small group category (organizations with 20 employees or less).

The Coolest Places to Work program identifies and honors local companies that have created the most engaging and rewarding work environments. The award is presented by the Corridor Business Journal. Honorees were selected based on satisfaction surveys sent to the organization’s staff.

“We’re honored to be recognized as one of the coolest places to work," Animal Services Supervisor Liz Ford said. “Our staff and volunteers are truly committed to our mission of helping animals and helping people who care about them. The staff and volunteers work as a team and we believe that communication and respect are critical to producing a positive environment for everyone -- both two- and four-legged. We like to have fun, and we love to celebrate the best part of our work -- finding an animal a new loving home.”
