Iowa City Mayor Matt Hayek will travel to Washington, D.C. to represent Iowa City at the 2015 White House Conference on Aging. The conference will run from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, July 13.

Hayek will join four other panelists to discuss various topics related to healthy aging in America. The discussion will be directed by Dr. Michael Smith, chief medical editor of the website WebMD. The Iowa City/Johnson County Senior Center must diversify its funding streams and lessen its reliance on city revenue in anticipation of declining property tax revenue.
