Applications are now being accepted for a vacancy on the Iowa City Human Rights Commission. A new commissioner is needed to fill an unexpired term which will end on January 1, 2017. The commission member who is named to fill the seat may request reappointment when the term expires, if he or she chooses to do so. Full terms run for three years.

The deadline for nominations for the 13th Annual Youth Awards, which recognize young people’s contributions to human rights efforts, is quickly approaching.

The City of Iowa City Human Rights Commission is seeking nominations by Friday, April 22 at 4:30 p.m. to recognize the contributions of youths who have promoted and/or contributed to human rights causes locally or globally.
