Winter curbside collection tips

To ensure your curbside materials are collected safely and successfully throughout the winter season, follow these tips:

Place carts or containers on a solid surface for pickup, such as the end of your driveway or the edge of the right-of-way. Do not place carts on a snowbank or in the street. Have carts at the curb by 7 a.m. on your regular collection day for pickup. Do not overfill carts. City ordinance states the lids must be closed. Keep at least a 3-feet clear zone around each cart. Keep recycling materials loose—no plastic bags! Also, no glass or Styrofoam.

The Thanksgiving holiday will bring some changes to Iowa City Transit service.

Starting Monday, Nov. 21, 2022, the #4 - Downtown Shuttle route will be suspended until Monday, Nov. 28, 2022, due to the Thanksgiving holiday break for University of Iowa students.

There will be no Transit service on Thanksgiving Day, Thursday, Nov. 24, 2022. Due to a home Hawkeyes football game, the Saturday football transit schedule will be in place on Friday, Nov. 25, 2022. There will be normal service on Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022.
