On Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019, the Iowa City City Council unanimously passed a resolution that increased the City's goals for reducing carbon emissions within the City.
The resolution, which declared a climate crisis for the City, matched the latest goals from the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), which are to reduce carbon emissions by 45% from 2010 levels by 2030, and reach net zero carbon emissions by 2050.
The resolution called for "immediate and accelerated action" to decrease emissions community-wide.
