Two new police officers have joined the Iowa City Police Department. 

Andrew Bratek and Jon York were sworn in by Police Chief Jody Matherly during a ceremony on Tuesday, July 9, 2019, at City Hall.

Officer York, 26, of Victor, graduated from high school in the Hartwick-Ladora-Victor Community School District. Before joining the ICPD, Officer York worked as a police officer for the Carroll Police Department and worked as a security officer for the University of Iowa Department of Public Safety. 

Officer Bratek, 24, originally from Fort Madison, earned a Masters of Arts degree in Law Enforcement and Justice Administration from Western Illinois University. Prior to employment with the Iowa City Police Department, Officer Bratek worked as a Deputy Sheriff with the Linn County Sheriff's Office since May of 2017.
