Each year, the City’s Historic Preservation Commission and the Friends of Historic Preservation host the Historic Preservation Recognition Program to acknowledge property owners, consultants, contractors, craftspersons, and community organizations for their preservation efforts and completion of historically appropriate projects. This year’s event marks the program’s 33rd year.

The program is scheduled Thursday, Jan. 21 in Meeting Room A at the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn Street, from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Light refreshments will be served beforehand, beginning at 5 p.m. The public is invited to attend at no charge.

Residential, commercial, and institutional properties will be recognized in several award categories: Paint and Exterior Finishes; Rehabilitation; and Additions and New Construction.
