On Thursday, August 4, 2016, Dubuque Street will temporarily close at approximately 11 a.m. for work related to the Iowa City Gateway Project. Underground rock is being split to allow for the installation of deep sanitary trunk sewer under the northbound lanes of Dubuque Street. There will be no closure today at 6:30 p.m. as previously planned.
The closures will take place between Terrell Mill Park, located just north of the Mayflower Residence Hall, and Church Street. Drivers should expect delays and queuing during the closure and are encouraged to take a different route.
A siren will be heard before the road is closed. Flaggers will be on site to stop traffic during the work for approximately 5 to 15 minutes.
The work is being done as part of the Iowa City Gateway Project, a flood mitigation project to raise Dubuque Street while elevating and replacing the Park Road Bridge.
A reminder, the Gateway Project timeline is fluid and subject to change. Updates will be communicated as they become available.
