Final autopsy results from the April 5, 2019 homicide investigation at 114 Green Mountain Drive confirm that JoEllen Browning died from sharp force injuries.

The Iowa Division of Criminal Investigation and the Iowa City Police Department are continuing to investigate this case. Approximately 20 agents and investigators have been involved in conducting upwards of 100 interviews. Additionally, lab results from evidence collected at the scene are still pending. No arrests have been made.

Investigators are discussing all aspects of this case, including the sharing of information with the public, and are making conscious decisions about how they are proceeding. This is all done to build the strongest case possible and not jeopardize their efforts. The priority and goal in this case is to find justice for the victim.

Information will be publicly released when it is determined to be available and appropriate.
