Drivers should expect lane shifts and possible traffic delays on Wednesday, Oct. 24, 2018, as crews work to remove temporary pavement markings from Dubuque Street in preparation for permanent lane striping.
It is not anticipated that this work will impact rush hour traffic. Permanent paint is expected to be installed later this week.
Additional lanes on Dubuque Street will start to reopen fully once the permanent paint is applied. However, lanes will continue to open and close as work continues along the road.
Utility installation is continuing under Park Road Bridge, and has delayed the reopening of additional traffic lanes on Park Road. Lanes will reopen as work is completed.
We appreciate the public's patience as work wraps up. Heavy rains and wet weather throughout the fall have delayed the anticipated completion date of the project.
The Iowa City Gateway Project is a flood mitigation effort that elevated Dubuque Street while raising and replacing Park Road Bridge. To receive project updates, sign up for City of Iowa City e-subscriptions, and follow the City of Iowa City on Facebook and Twitter using #ICGateway.
