Drivers should expect lane shifts and possible traffic delays on Friday, Oct. 26, 2018, as crews work to put down permanent pavement markings on Dubuque Street in preparation to open additional lanes.
It is not anticipated that this work will impact rush hour traffic. Drivers are asked to use caution as crews continue to work towards completion of the project.
Additional lanes on Dubuque Street will start to reopen fully as work adjacent to the roadway is completed. However, lanes will open and close as work continues to install traffic signals, street lights, landscaping, etc.
Utility installation is continuing under Park Road Bridge, and has delayed the reopening of additional traffic lanes on Park Road. Lanes will reopen as work is completed.
We appreciate the public's patience as work wraps up. Heavy rains and wet weather throughout the fall have delayed the anticipated completion date of the project.
The Iowa City Gateway Project is a flood mitigation effort that elevated Dubuque Street while raising and replacing Park Road Bridge. To receive project updates, sign up for City of Iowa City e-subscriptions, and follow the City of Iowa City on Facebook and Twitter using #ICGateway.
