Woodside Place closed for resurfacing work

Woodside Place has been closed from Greenwood Drive to Woodside Drive for resurfacing work.

Weather permitting, it is anticipated that Woodside Place will reopen to normal traffic by Monday, September 23, 2019.

Effective immediately, the inbound Oakcrest and Night/Weekend Oakcrest bus routes will detour due to the work.

The following bus stops will be temporarily out of service due to the road work:

Ped Mall Update: Linn Street to reopen to traffic

South Linn Street should reopen to traffic next week as the Pedestrian Mall Improvements Project moves closer to completion.

On the east end of the project last week, bricks have been laid all the way to South Linn Street. Most plants and trees have been planted as well.

This week, more benches will be installed in the area, along with pavers, planters, and some final sidewalk work.

Household Hazardous Materials collection event scheduled for Friday at East Side Recycling Center

The Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center will sponsor a mobile household hazardous materials collection event from 8-11 a.m. Friday, Sept. 6, 2019 at the East Side Recycling Center, 2401 Scott Blvd. SE in Iowa City. There is no cost to participate.

Residents of Iowa City and other communities in rural areas of Johnson County, as well as residents of Kalona and Riverside, may dispose of one box of household hazardous materials per household.

Iowa City’s preliminary quarterly finance report for the quarter that ended June 30, 2019 is now available at www.icgov.org/budget . This report provides information on the City’s fund balances, revenues, and expenditures compared to budgeted amounts and budget variances.

The quarterly finance report is required by the City Council’s Financial and Fiscal Policies.

The Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center is excited to announce an upcoming minor construction project on the main office building. The project will extend the overhang where household hazardous materials (HHM) are received by appointment. This will allow customers to pull through more easily. During construction, HHM will be accepted by appointment on the back (east) side of the facility at the overhead door. Customers should use Lane #3 to pull around the building.

Several eastbound bus routes will detour due to road work at the intersection of Washington Street and Gilbert Street effective Thursday, August 29, 2019. The affected bus routes are the outbound Southside Shuttle, outbound Court Hill, outbound Towncrest, outbound Night Towncrest and the outbound 7th Avenue.
