Just in time for your holiday shopping needs, parking ramps throughout Downtown Iowa City will be free on Small Business, Saturday, Nov. 26, 2022. Or enjoy free service on Iowa City Transit Nov. 25 and 26!

The free ramp parking and transit will be in place so Iowa City residents can take the time to support the small, locally-owned businesses that help keep our economy running and our City vibrant.

Below are the parking and transit changes that will be in place during the holiday weekend.

Last week, the Iowa Department of Transportation released its 2022 Iowa Aviation Economic Report.

The report showcases aviation's impact on Iowa's economy, and how local airports impact local economies.

The report detailed that the Iowa City Municipal Airport brings $24 million annually in total economic activity to the area. The last time Iowa DOT conducted this study in 2009, it showed the airport brought in $11.2 million. That is a 114 percent increase in economic impact.

The Iowa City community can expect to see a fresh look on the Iowa City Police Department's squad cars.

The police department recently introduced a new decal design for its squad cars with different lettering, colors, and other aesthetic changes. Most importantly, the new design features the 988 Suicide & Crisis Lifeline to remind the community of that invaluable service.

Iowa City police vehicles with the previous and current designs will be in service as squad cars are updated in phases over the course of the next month.
