The City's Donation Drive-Thru was the one-day donation and recycling event on Sunday, July 24, 2022, from noon to 4 p.m. in the Chauncey Swan parking ramp.
In a span of four hours, over four tons (approximately 8,246 pounds) of materials were saved from the landfill and diverted through recycling and donation programs. Below is a recap of materials diverted at the event with estimated weights.
Recycled Materials
- Batteries: 127.5 lbs.
- Light Bulbs: 49 lbs.
- Books: 858.5 lbs.
- Mattresses and Box Springs: 1,025 lbs.
Donated Materials
- Books: 850 lbs.
- Tables: 110 lbs.
- Chairs: 235 lbs.
- Appliances: 185 lbs.
- Dressers and Bookshelves: 150 lbs.
- Mattresses and Box Springs: 1,320 lbs.
- Clothing/Shoes: 2,145 lbs.
- Food: 315 lbs.
- Hygiene/Grooming Products: 231 lbs.
- Couches: 75 lbs.
- Bed Frames: 225 lbs.
- Lamps: 100 lbs.
- Household/Kitchen Items: 245 lbs.
The event was meant to support local residents moving during the lease-turnover time at the end of July by providing disposal options for common or problematic items when moving.
