Plan to attend an upcoming meeting to learn more about the future of two Iowa City neighborhoods.

On Monday, July 24, 2017, Opticos Design will host a presentation on the future of the Northside and South District Neighborhoods. The meeting will be held at 6 p.m. in Meeting Room A of the Iowa City Public Library, 123 S. Linn St.

The presentation will provide an overview of studies conducted in Iowa City, which examine the current zoning and feasibility of Form Based Code, a tool used to add Missing Middle Housing types, as well as a transportation and parking study completed by TND Engineering. ‘Missing Middle’ housing is defined as housing types between traditional single family homes and apartment buildings, such as duplexes, townhouses, and fourplexes.

The presentation will include recommendations from the draft final report, which contains responses to feedback provided by the community during public workshops held in February and May. Opticos Design has collaborated with TND Engineering and City staff over the last several months to generate the report, which includes recommendations for the two study areas, the Northside Neighborhood and the South District.

Those with questions about the project should contact City of Iowa City Urban Planner Karen Howard at 319-356-5251 or e-mail karen-howard@iowa-city.org. To learn more about the project, visit icgov.org/formbasedcodeassessments.
