Crews will begin assessing Iowa City streams for fallen trees, broken drain tiles, unusual erosion and other concerns that could impact water quality and increases high-flow flooding.

This work requires staff to work in the water to search for obstructions.

City Stormwater Regulations mandate these evaluations take place within City limits annually.  Crews will be working in the streams anytime between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m., Monday – Friday, and will be wearing a City of Iowa City safety vest and will carry a City ID. They will not enter adjacent private property unless there is a blockage or emergency.
