In response to last week's C6-Zero facility explosion in Marengo, the City of Iowa City wishes to assure the public there is no anticipated impact to the City's water supply.

The Water Division has been in contact with the Iowa Department of Natural Resources since Friday, Dec. 16. IDNR staff provided information to the City indicating that waters contaminated due to the explosion had been contained to a stormwater basin near the C6-Zero facility in Marengo.

The Water Division will conduct a sampling of the Iowa River using the same analyses the IDNR is using at the Marengo site. Results will take two weeks to receive. The probability of above normal contaminant levels being found in the river water is low.

Please contact the Iowa City Water Division at 319-356-5160 for additional information.
