At 4:47 p.m., Sunday, March 5, the Iowa City Fire Department was called to 250 Lexington Ave. for a possible structure fire. A passerby reported smelling smoke and hearing smoke detectors alerting inside the residence.

Crews arrived on scene within five minutes and encountered smoke coming from the roof of the residence. Firefighters entered the home and discovered a small fire contained to the kitchen, as well as heavy smoke throughout the residence. The fire was extinguished within five minutes of crews arriving on scene.

Iowa City’s preliminary quarterly finance report for the quarter that ended December 31, 2022, is now available at www.icgov.org/budget . This report provides information on the City’s fund balances, revenues, and expenditures compared to budgeted amounts and budget variances.

The quarterly finance report is required by the City Council’s Financial and Fiscal Policies.
