Iowa City Animal Services received notification of a woman who was bitten by a dog Wednesday, July 17, 2019. They are asking for the public’s assistance in locating its owner.

At 11:15 p.m. that day, Iowa City Animal Services received notification of an adult woman who was bitten by a dog. According to the information provided the victim, she was at the Sports Column, 12 S. Dubuque St., talking to a white male with a gray pit bull puppy. The Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department is excited to celebrate the Riverfront Crossings Park grand opening this from 3-10 p.m. Saturday, July 20, 2019, in partnership with GreenState Credit Union (UICCU).

Rummage in the Ramp by the numbers: nearly 300 tons saved from Landfill in 12 years

Since its inception in 2007, Rummage in the Ramp has been a historic success for City sustainability goals by diverting used goods from the Iowa City Landfill.

In its first 12 years, the sale of used couches, furniture, and every day appliances has diverted almost 300 tons of refuse: 291.9 tons exactly. In comparison, a mature African elephant weighs 6.7 tons, which means Rummage in the Ramp has diverted the equivalent of the weight of 45 elephants from the Landfill.

Rummage has also raised $189,123 for local nonprofits...

Ped Mall Update: Story Wall finished

The Story Wall at Black Hawk Mini Park has been finished, marking another completion in the Pedestrian Mall Improvements Project.

Now complete, the Story Wall illustrates the history of Black Hawk Mini Park, as well as displays plaques celebrating some of Iowa City's most famous residents.

On the east end of College Street by the Iowa City Public Library, all planter footings have been installed and the planter walls have gone up. The storm sewer work has also been finished, meaning crews will begin grading and paving this week.
