The last Thursday Party in the Park of the year will take place from 6:30 to 8 p.m., August 29, 2019 at the newly renovated Creekside Park, located at 1858 7th Avenue Court. The event will feature live music from The Fritters and entertainment from The Eulenspiegel Puppet Theatre. This week's arts and crafts project includes making jewelry, origami, and decorations by using straws! The event will then conclude with a cold treat.

The Iowa City Farmers Market is excited to host the ninth annual Kids Market (formerly known as Kids Day) at the Farmers Market.

Kids ages 8 to 18 (younger are allowed with an adult present) are invited to participate as a Kid Vendor from 9 a.m. to noon on Saturday, Sept. 28, 2019 at the Iowa City Farmers Market, 415 East Washington Street, just across the street from City Hall and north of the Chauncey Swan Ramp.

Enjoy free samples of fresh fruits, vegetables, and baked goods during the annual Taste of Market event on Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019, at the Iowa City Farmers Market. The event will begin at 5 p.m. at the Iowa City Farmers Market in the Chauncey Swan Parking Ramp, across from City Hall on Washington Street.

This event is free and open to all. Samples are donated by Farmers Market vendors and prepared by Farmers Market staff and employees of GreenState Credit Union, who co-sponsor the event with the Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department.

Rummage in the Ramp sets new records for amount of waste diverted and funds raised

The 13th annual Rummage in the Ramp event diverted more than 32 tons of materials from curbs and dumpsters, setting a new record as more than 800 residents donated their still-usable items.

Rummage in the Ramp is an annual City-sponsored effort that began in 2007 to keep tons of reusable items out of the Iowa City Landfill, while providing items to those who need them when leases changeover at the end of July. The City of Iowa City Parks and Recreation Department is seeking the public's input on replacement playgrounds and shelters at two Iowa City parks. All proposed upgrades meet ADA requirements while improving access to primary park amenities. These year 2020 projects follow the recommendations of the 2017 Iowa City Park Master Plan. Comments on the proposed designs will be accepted through paper or online form below until Wednesday, Aug. 28, 2019.
