Iowa City’s preliminary quarterly finance report for the quarter that ended June 30, 2019 is now available at www.icgov.org/budget . This report provides information on the City’s fund balances, revenues, and expenditures compared to budgeted amounts and budget variances.

The quarterly finance report is required by the City Council’s Financial and Fiscal Policies.

The Iowa City Landfill and Recycling Center is excited to announce an upcoming minor construction project on the main office building. The project will extend the overhang where household hazardous materials (HHM) are received by appointment. This will allow customers to pull through more easily. During construction, HHM will be accepted by appointment on the back (east) side of the facility at the overhead door. Customers should use Lane #3 to pull around the building.

The first event of the month will take place from 4 to 5:30 p.m. Sunday, Sept. 8, 2019, at College Green Park, 600 E. Several eastbound bus routes will detour due to road work at the intersection of Washington Street and Gilbert Street effective Thursday, August 29, 2019. The affected bus routes are the outbound Southside Shuttle, outbound Court Hill, outbound Towncrest, outbound Night Towncrest and the outbound 7th Avenue. The Court Hill, Towncrest, Night Towncrest and 7th Avenue routes will detour using Clinton Street to Burlington Street instead of traveling eastbound on Washington Street. Governor Street bridge to re-open Saturday for UI football traffic

Fans from across the state will be celebrating the kickoff of the University of Iowa Hawkeyes football season with a home game on Saturday, Aug. 31, 2019.

The influx of Hawkeye fans mean Iowa City residents should plan ahead when commuting this Saturday.

The Governor Street Bridge will reopen for traffic - but not to pedestrians- by Saturday. Plans are for the bridge to stay open until Tuesday, Sept. 3, 2019, when it will again close to complete work. The bridge is expected to be fully opened by Friday, Sept. 6, 2019.

City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall, 410 E. Washington St., will be closed Monday, Sept. 2, 2019, for the Labor Day holiday.

Solid Waste: Refuse, recycling, and yard waste will be collected on Labor Day. Residents on the Monday route should have their materials at the curb by 7 a.m.

Transit: No bus service.

Airport: The administration office will be closed, but Jet Air (FBO) will be open regular hours.

Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed.
