The Governor has ordered that, starting 8 a.m. Friday, June 12, 2020, some businesses no longer need to restrict capacity to 50% due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

City receives $3 million grant for new electric buses

The City of Iowa City Transportation Department has received a $3,017,280 grant from the US Department of Transportation (USDOT) in order to acquire new electric buses.

The grant, which was announced on Tuesday, June 2, 2020, means that the City will be able to replace some diesel buses that are currently in use throughout the community.

The City of Iowa City is taking the next steps to improve customer service, transparency and innovation in land management, licensing and permitting.

On June 23, 2020, the City will launch a new software platform called EnerGov, replacing the existing system that had been in place for nearly 30 years. The new platform will improve efficiency by increasing the types of permits that people can apply for online.
