Crews will begin work on a project to replace the trail bridge located near the 1st Avenue entrance at Hickory Hill Park next week.
The project will remove the current 50-foot, wooden pedestrian bridge that was damaged by creek flooding in 2013. It will be replaced with a new, pre-engineered steel bridge. Work to stabilize the streambank and repair the trail will also be done.That process will involve some tree removal both at the bridge site and to allow construction equipment access from 1st Avenue.
