The City is now soliciting feedback on City Steps 2025, the City’s five-year Consolidated Plan for housing, jobs, and services for low- and moderate-income residents.

City Steps 2025 can be viewed online , and residents can provide public comment until Tuesday, Jan. 7, 2020.

The Housing and Community Development Commission will hold a public meeting to accept oral or written comments, and to consider recommending City Steps 2025 to City Council, at 6:30 p.m....

Due to issues related to the locker room renovation, the Robert A. Lee Recreation Center will close to the public beginning at 6 p.m. Monday, Nov. 25, 2019, and will remain closed until 11 a.m. on Friday, Nov. 29.

This grant opportunity is available to Iowa City-based organizations, both non and for profit, with the purpose of encouraging, empowering, and engaging social justice and racial equity initiatives through programs, activities, or services that help eliminate inequities in the Iowa City community.

Robert A. Lee pool to close Friday for repairs

Fire Department welcomes new firefighter, an Iowa City native

On Friday, Nov. 15, 2019, the Iowa City Fire Department welcomed a new firefighter Maria Koeppel during a badge pinning ceremony.

Koeppel was born and raised in Iowa City, and returns to town after serving as a firefighter in Lee's Summit, Missouri. She officially joined the City on Monday, Oct. 7, 2019, then completed a six-week recruit academy, and will now work out of Fire Station 1 in Downtown Iowa City.

She has already received several certifications, including hazmat operations, and EMT training.
