City of Iowa City administrative offices at City Hall and other facilities will be closed Thursday, Nov. 23 and Friday, Nov. 24, 2017, for the Thanksgiving holiday. 

Other office closures and schedule changes include: 

Airport: Administration office will be closed both days. Jet Air will be available Thursday from 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. and regular hours on Friday. Jet Air will also be available after hours for callout at 319-248-1200 (fees apply). Self-serve Avgas and Jet-A available around the clock.

Animal Care and Adoption Center: Closed both days.

Cemetery: Office closed both days. Artificial wreaths and flowers, or other decorations may be placed on graves for the holidays. These materials will remain in place through the end of February 2018. If not claimed by then, they will be removed by staff.

Landfill and Recycling Center: Closed Thursday, but open regular hours on Friday from 7 a.m. to 4:30 p.m.

Library: The Library will be closing at 5 p.m. on Wednesday, Nov. 22. It will be closed all day on Thanksgiving Day. Friday hours, 10 a.m. to 6 p.m.

Parking: Office closed both days. Ramp and metered parking will not be enforced, Thursday, Friday and Saturday, to support Small Business Saturday on Nov. 25. 

Parks and Recreation: All facilities will be closed on Thanksgiving Day. On Friday, Nov. 24 the recreation centers will be open Sunday hours, 11 a.m. to 8 p.m. Pools at both facilities will be open 1 p.m. to 8 p.m. Administrative offices will be closed both days.

Police: Administration and records closed. Patrol and station masters will be on duty, and the Police Department front desk will be open.

Senior Center: Closed both Thursday and Friday. No senior meals. 

Solid Waste: No curbside garbage, recycling or yard waste collection on Thanksgiving Day. Operations will resume on Friday, when both Thursday and Friday routes will be collected. Residents on these routes should place materials at the curb by 7 a.m. on Friday, although the City cannot determine exactly what time the items will be collected.

Transit: There will be no free shuttle service from Monday, Nov. 20 through Friday, Nov. 24. Transit will not run on Thursday. It will run its Saturday schedule on Friday and Saturday at no cost to riders.

Water: Office closed both days, for a water emergency, call the 24-hour emergency number at 319-356-5166.

City offices and operations will return to normal schedules on Monday, Nov. 27.
