Employees with the City of Iowa City are organizing a “Leaf It To Us!” leaf-raking volunteer day and are looking for Iowa City homeowners who can no longer do these chores themselves and could use the help. Volunteers will rake and pile leaves at the curb for pick-up. The event, which is being coordinated by the City’s Employee Wellness Committee, is scheduled Saturday, Oct. 24 from 8 a.m. to noon.

Iowa City residents who want to sign up for the assistance should contact the Senior Center at 319-356-5220 between 8 a.m. and 5 p.m. Monday through Friday to have their names added to the list. The deadline for sign-up is Friday, Oct. 16, although the City cannot guarantee that all requests will be accommodated. The service will be available on a first-come, first-served basis.

Residents whose yards will be raked will be notified prior to Oct. 24. Volunteers will be available to rake leaves only; no other chores or clean-up work can be performed. In case of inclement weather, the event will not be rescheduled.

For more information, call the Iowa City Senior Center at 319-356-5220.
