Due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the annual community resale event Rummage in the Ramp, has been cancelled, and will be replaced by online activities and resources.

The Rummage in the Ramp planning committee would like to express appreciation and gratitude to all our volunteer groups and sponsors representing local non-profits, organizations, and businesses that make this event possible year after year.

Effective Monday, June 15, 2020, Iowa City Transit will return to the normal weekday summer service schedule.

Hours of operation will be 6 a.m. – 10:30 p.m. Monday- Friday, and 6 a.m. – 7 p.m. on Saturdays. The Downtown Shuttle and Eastside Loop, which typically do not run during the summer, will not resume until the University of Iowa and the Iowa City Community School District are in session. Fare collection will also resume and riders will be asked to board through the front of the bus.

Since the murder of George Floyd at the hands of Minneapolis police, protesters have taken to the streets in and around Iowa City. The protests have been wide-ranging and well attended.

The City of Iowa City supports the fundamental rights of protesters to assemble and express themselves. Without the benefit of advance notice or communication from protesters, Iowa City has sought to protect the protesters by closing streets, redirecting traffic, and directing Iowa City Police Department officers to provide public safety support from a distance.
