At the Tuesday, Aug. 6, 2019 City Council meeting, the Council approved a five-year plan to help manage the deer population in Iowa City.
The full resolution can be read online. The plan calls for one season of sharpshooting of deer by White Buffalo Incorporated, between Dec. 1, 2019 and March 31, 2020. The following four years will be public bow hunts for deer. The bow hunt seasons will be at a minimum of 30 days long. The exact times and locations of these hunts have yet to be decided.
The Iowa Natural Resource Commission approved this plan shortly after the resolution was passed by council.
